Packaging and Labeling

Strict Sysco specifications that meet or exceed regulatory standards, together with supplier plant certifications by the Sysco QA team, lay the foundation for procedures on packaging and labeling Sysco Brand products.

Our labels convey valuable information at a glance, ensuring proper storage and handling procedures. Packing label specifications may also include allergen information; code dating; handling, storage and distribution information; ingredient statements; nutrition panel information; and a product description.

New packaging and label designs introduced in 2012 for all Sysco Traditional Brand products (Supreme, Imperial, Classic and Reliance) provide more information to customers in a clearer format. Improvements include:

  • Bilingual labels: All components of the package labeling are presented in both English and Spanish.
  • Digital workflow process: We require suppliers to use our central source for packaging and labeling artwork to provide greater consistency in data, formatting and appearance and improved speed to market.
  • Enhanced display of nutritional facts: Nutrition fact panels are formatted to improve visibility and readability by using the largest practical format.
  • Standardized placement of claims and nutritional information: All claims, such as zero trans-fat or low sodium, are formatted and positioned consistently across products.
